Quick & Easy Veg Recipes That Bachelors Can Make

Bachelors are always in a hurry, they always prefer only one dish to make for lunch / dinner, but always ended up ordering outside. So here are some quick and easy recipes that bachelors must try when they are running out of time.

1. Curd Rice

We all love eating curd rice and bachelor can make this dish using leftover rice.

Ingredients

• 2 or 3 tablespoons of cooking oil
• 2 pinches asafoetida
• 1 teaspoon of mustard seeds
• 1 teaspoon of Cumin Seeds
• A few curry leaves
• Chopped Ginger (Optional)
• 3-4 Kashmiri Red chilies
• 1-2 Chopped Green Chilies
• 1 cup of rice
• 2 cups of water
• 1 cup of curd
• Chopped up coriander leaves for garnish
• Salt to taste

Time Needed: 20-25 Minutes
Servings: Serves two to four

How to Make It

• Wash rice in cold water and soak for 20 minutes. Take a pressure cooker, add two cups of water and put rice in it. Sprinkle salt and cook rice till two to three whistle. (You can take leftover rice.)
• Release the Pressure & Set the rice aside for a couple of hours and then add curd to it. And add salt to taste.
• Heat up some oil and then add pinches asafetida, mustard seeds, Cumin Seeds, Kashmiri chilies, Green Chilies, Chopped Ginger and curry leaves. Wait for added Ingredients to splutter.
• After 2-3 minutes, add the mixture to the rice and mix everything well.
• Garnish the dish with the coriander leaves and serve with pickle, papad, chutney or another side dish.

2. Tomato Dosa

Ingredients

• 3 cup rice
• 1/2 cup Black gram (Urad Dal)
• 2 teaspoon cumin seeds
• 1/4 teaspoon oil
• 2 chopped tomato
• 3 washed & dried red chilly
• Salt to taste
• 2 cups of water

Time needed: 40-45 Minutes (After Soaking rice & black gram for 3-4 hours)
Servings: Serves two to four

How to Make It

• Take two bowls with water and soak the rice and black gram in them separately for 3- 4 hours.
• In a mixer, grind together the gram and rice. Then, add the chopped tomatoes, red chilies, and salt as per taste to it and grind again to form a smooth batter.
• Keep it aside for 20 minutes.
• Heat a pan over medium flame. Pour a ladleful of the batter and spread it outwards using the ladle only.
• Apply some oil around the edges and flip it to cook from both the sides.
• Once cooked completely well, transfer it to serving plate and serve with coconut chutney or Garlic chutney.

3. Maggi With a twist

Ingredients

• 1 tablespoon of oil
• 1 tablespoon Chopped Green Chilies
• 1/4 cup Chopped Tomato
• 1 or 2 packet Maggi Masala
• 1 tablespoon Pavbhaji Masala
• 1 tablespoon Lemon Juice
• Cheese

Time needed: 5 Minutes
Servings: Serves two to four

How to Make It

• Heat oil in a pan.
• Add Maggi masala tastemaker & Pavbhaji masala and cook it for 20-25 seconds.
• Add green chilies and chopped tomatoes, Lemon juice and cook it for 2-3 minutes.
• Add 1 cup of water.
• Add 1 or 2 Packets of Maggi masala and cook it until Maggi is done.
• Garnish with lots of cheese and serve hot.

4. Strawberry and Banana Smoothie

Ingredients

• 2 cups strawberries
• 1 fresh banana
• 1 cup milk
• 1 tablespoon honey or sugar, if needed to sweeten

Time needed: 5 Minutes

How to Make It
• Add all ingredients to a blender, and blend until smooth and creamy.
• And Ready to serve.

5. Mayonnaise Sandwich

Ingredients

• ½ eggless mayonnaise
• 1 Green capsicum
• 1 Red capsicum
• 1 yellow capsicum
• 1 corn
• ¼ tbsp of pepper powder
• Salt to taste
• Bread packet white / brown
• Green Chutney
• Butter

Time needed: 15 Minutes
Servings: Serves two to four

How to Make It

For Green Chutney
• First of all take a mixture jar, add coriander leaves, mint leaves, few roasted peanuts, gram dal, 1 tbsp chopped garlic and ginger, 2-3 green chilies, salt to taste, add some water and mix it well.
Sandwich Preparation:
• Take a large mixing bowl and add ½ cup of eggless mayonnaise.
• Add Green, Red, Yellow Capsicum, ¼ pepper powder and salt to taste.
• Mix everything well.
• Now take two slice of bread and apply Green Chutney to 1 slice
• Now spread prepared mixture of mayonnaise over bread slice.
• Apply to butter to another slice and place it over stuffing.
• Take a Pan and toast the sandwich both the sides.
• Cut the sandwich in two half and serve hot.

6. Instant Garlic Carrot Sabzi

Ingredients

• 2-3 tbsp of oil
• 1 tbsp mustard seeds
• ½ cumin seeds
• Pinch asafoetida
• 2 chopped carrot
• 3-4 Garlic cloves
• 1 tbsp red chili powder
• ½ tbsp turmeric powder
• Salt to taste

Time needed: 15 Minutes
Servings: Serves two to four

How to Make It

• First of all take a mixture jar, add garlic cloves, red chili powder, salt and add 2-5 tbsp of water and mix it well.
• Heat oil in a pan.
• Add Mustard seeds, cumin seeds, pinch asafoetidia, wait for added ingredients to splutter.
• Add Garlic mixture and cook it around 2-3 min.
• Add Chopped carrots and mix it well, cook it around 5-10 min.
• Serve this dish with roti, paratha or rice.

7. Masala Rice

Ingredients

• 2-3 tbsp of oil.
• 1 tbsp mustard seeds
• 1 tbsp cumin seeds
• ½ asafoetida
• Few curry leaves
• 1 finely chopped onion
• 1 finely chopped tomato
• 1 chopped potato
• 1 cup chopped carrot
• 1 cup rice (You can use leftover rice)
• 1 tbsp red chili powder
• 1 tbsp turmeric powder
• 1 tbsp coriander powder
• 1 tbsp garam masala
• 1 tbsp Butter
• Chopped coriander leaves
• Salt to taste
Time needed: 15 Minutes
Servings: Serves two to four

How to Make It

• Make rice or you can use leftover rice.
• Heat up 2-3 tbsp of oil in a pan, add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, ½ asafetida, few curry leaves and let them splutter.
• Add chopped onion and sauté well.
• Add chopped tomatoes, potatoes and carrots and cook it for 2-3 min.
• Add all spices and mix it well, add 1 cup water and cook it for 5-10 min on medium flame.
• Add cooked rice in mixture and mix it well, add 1 tbsp of Butter.
• Garnish with coriander leaves & Serve hot.

8. Mango Custard

Ingredients

• 2 cup milk
• 2- tbsp custard powder
• 1 cup sugar
• ¾ cup mango cubes
• 2 tbsp of almond
• 2 tbsp of cashew
• 1/3 tbsp of cardamom powder
• You can add apple, grapes, pomegranate or any other fruit of your choice.

Time needed: 30 Minutes
Servings: Serves to four

How to Make It

• Boil two cups of milk, stirring occasionally.
• Add 2-3 tbsp of milk in custard milk powder and pour custard milk stirring continuously.
• Add Sugar and mix well.
• Cook it until milk thickens and creamy.
• Switch off the gas flame and cool it completely.
• Add 4 cup of mango pulp and whisk smooth.
• Add dry fruits and any other fruit of your choice, add cardamom powder and mix it well.
• Refrigerate for 2-3 hours.
• Enjoy Chilled Mango Custard and topped with chopped dry fruits.
